Changed traffic conditions – Cooksley Street, Albion

From mid-October 2018 for approximately four weeks, works will be undertaken to upgrade the verges and pavement along Cooksley Street, between Yulestar Street and Kingsford Smith Drive.

To accommodate these works, the traffic barriers currently on the western side of Cooksley Street will be moved to the eastern side of Cooksley Street, adjacent to the Hamilton BP.

Access to Kingsford Smith Drive from Cooksley Street will remain via one lane, which will allow both left and right-hand traffic movements out of Cooksley Street onto Kingsford Smith Drive. Access to Cooksley Street from Kingsford Smith Drive will remain open to both inbound and outbound traffic.

Additional signage and line marking will be installed to help motorists navigate around the work area.

Some additional lane closures will be required at night and nearby residents will be notified in advance of planned out-of-hours work.

Changed traffic conditions – Racecourse Road to Harbour Road, Hamilton

In late September 2018, works will begin to upgrade the northern side of Kingsford Smith Drive between Racecourse Road and Seymour Road. These works are expected to continue for approximately 12 months.

To accommodate these works, vehicles will be moved onto the newly-constructed southern lanes of Kingsford Smith Drive. Additional signage will be installed to help motorists navigate through the work area.

A service road will be constructed on the northern side of Kingsford Smith Drive, allowing vehicles to access local businesses and properties. Entry and exit points will be clearly signed.

Temporary road closure – Day Street, Hamilton

As part of the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade, public utility services are being relocated and where required, replaced, to ensure these services continue to meet the needs of the local community.

To allow for the installation of new underground services, from Wednesday 1 August 2018 for up to eight weeks, Day Street will be closed at Kingsford Smith Drive to traffic in both directions.

Access to Day Street will be maintained via York Street.

This temporary road closure will enable the majority of works to be undertaken during the day between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, to minimise the impact and duration of night works on the local community.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure with additional signage installed to help motorists and pedestrians navigate around the work area.

Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work site. Driveway access will be maintained at all times, under the direction of traffic control if required.

In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, this closure may be extended to allow the work activity to be completed safely.

This closure is required to allow for the installation of stormwater infrastructure and new underground services, and construction of the new road pavement.

Closing Riverview Terrace allows the project team to achieve greater productivity and carry out the majority of these works during the day.

During this period, right turn access to Riverview Terrace from Kingsford Smith Drive will be provided via Seymour Road.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure with additional signage installed to help motorists and pedestrians navigate around the work area.
