Traffic changes and closures

Permanent closure – Right turn into Amy Street, Albion

From Tuesday 16 May, the right turn into Amy Street, Albion from Kingsford Smith Drive will permanently close. Access to Amy Street will be available via Cooksley Street and Yulestar Street.

The right turn closure into Amy Street is required to create space for a second inbound lane on Amy Street onto Breakfast Creek Road to improve traffic flow in the local area.

Due to traffic permit restrictions, work to implement this traffic change will take place at night, from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday nights.

The work will involve changes to the existing traffic signals, median, profiling and asphalt works. This work is expected to take approximately four weeks, weather permitting.

For more information, view the full notice here.

Temporary road closure

From late April 2017, the westbound lane on Allen Street will be temporarily closed at Seymour Road to install water tanks to manage ground water in preparation for the installation of a new gas pipe in the area. The pump and tanks will be housed inside two shipping containers.

In addition, Seymour Road will be temporarily closed between Kingsford Smith Drive and Allen Street from mid-May 2017 while the new gas pipe is being installed. The new pipe will be installed beneath Kingsford Smith Drive working from south to north and continuing along Seymour Road into Allen Street.

Both road closures will remain in place until mid-July 2017.

Detour signs will be installed to help pedestrians and motorists navigate through the area during the closures.

Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work site. Driveway access will be maintained at all times under the direction of traffic control officers.

Temporary lane closures

As part of improvement works between Cooksley Street and Breakfast Creek Road at Albion, asphalt works will be taking place on the northern side of Yulestar Street during April and May.

Lane closures and stop/go traffic control will be required on Yulestar Street during this work. Access to side streets and all properties will be maintained at all times and traffic controllers and additional signage will be in place to assist motorists.

Some lane closures will be in place for 24 hours during these works, however the majority of works will take place from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm Saturdays. If out-of-hours work is required, directly impacted residents will be notified.

Footpath closures

The southern (river side) shared user path between Cooksley Street, Hamilton and Theodore Street, Eagle Farm  is currently closed for construction works. The newly widened footpath on the northern side of Kingsford Smith Drive is available to pedestrians and cyclists.

Bus stop relocations

Due to the installation of traffic barriers on the southern (inbound) side of Kingsford Smith Drive, the inbound bus stops at Riverview Terrace and Crescent Road are temporarily relocated to nearby locations (see map below).
