Current changes and closures:

Major weekend traffic changes – January/February 2020

To enable pavement construction on Kingsford Smith Drive between Cooksley Street and Toorak Road, major construction activities are required.

To reduce the impact and duration of ongoing night work on local residents, the project team will undertake construction of new pavement from 7pm Friday 31 January 2020 to 5am Monday 3 February 2020.

Traffic changes on Kingsford Smith Drive and lane closures at the Cooksley Street intersection will be required.

During these works, Kingsford Smith Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction next to the work areas between Cooksley Street and Toorak Road, with two lanes maintained in each direction during peak times on Saturday (10am to 3pm).

Significant delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time or seek alternate routes, where possible.

Cooksley Street access

Access to Kingsford Smith Drive from Cooksley Street will be closed from 7pm Friday 31 January 2020 to 5am Monday 3 February 2020.

Access to Cooksley Street from Kingsford Smith Drive will be maintained for outbound motorists only.

Please see notification for more information regarding traffic changes.

Changed traffic conditions – Agnes Street to Toorak Road

The outbound lane reductions in place on Breakfast Creek Road and the Inner City Bypass when entering Kingsford Smith Drive will be removed in early February 2020.

Temporary traffic changes – Crescent Road, Hamilton

To enable installation of new underground services, access to Kingsford Smith Drive from Crescent Road will close from Monday 13 January 2020 for up to six weeks.

Access to Kingsford Smith Drive from Crescent Road will be via Windermere Road and Racecourse Road. Access to Crescent Road from Kingsford Smith Drive will be maintained during this period.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure, with additional signage installed to help motorists and pedestrians navigate around the work area.

Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work site.

In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, these temporary traffic changes may be extended to allow the work activities to be completed safely.

Temporary road closure – Day Street, Hamilton

From mid-August 2019 to early 2020, Day Street will be closed at Kingsford Smith Drive to traffic in both directions.

This closure is required to enable installation of new underground services, pavement works and construction of the new road verge.
