Managing construction impacts
Maintaining traffic flow and access
During construction of the upgrade, two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Kingsford Smith Drive during peak travel times. Access to selected bus stops and the Bretts Wharf ferry terminal will also be maintained throughout construction. Traffic controllers will provide access to properties adjacent to the project area, where required.
Open for business
Access to local businesses will be maintained during construction of the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade. Additional signage and traffic controllers will assist motorists and pedestrians to access local businesses where required. To plan your route, check the traffic changes page or contact the team on 1800 084 383.
Side streets
As part of the upgrade, a number of existing services will need to be relocated or upgraded. This means construction activities will also be undertaken on a number of side streets. Further details will be provided prior to these works starting.
What to expect
- Use of construction equipment such as excavators, trucks, graders, piling rigs and cranes.
- Noise, dust and vibration associated with the use of construction equipment.
- Some night work to minimise traffic impacts.
- Traffic controllers and signage directing motorists, pedestrians and cyclists through the project area.
